Assistance to Elderly and Disabled People
In 2002, we partnered with the National Union of Saharawi Women to build and equip a second home for disabled people in the Dakhla camp. In addition, we extended our training program for Saharawi staff (group leaders and youth workers) to other camps, thus improving the care given to young, disabled people. A micro-credit pilot experience was also carried out in the camp of Dakhla. In 2003, the construction of a third special education centre was undertaken in El Ayoune. Moreover, the micro-credit project (creation of stalls selling everyday products, with the income generated by the activities being used to help disabled people and their families) was extended to three other camps in Ausserd, El Ayoune and Smara.
In 2004 and 2005, work in the mechanical repair workshop continued, as did our assistance to care structures for disabled people (maintenance of centres, equipment, staff training, etc). In 2010, Triangle continues its partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs and is supporting Centres for disabled people in various ways: rehabilitation, distribution of supplies, staff training.
