The Syrian context is deteriorating due to the ever worsening economic crisis and shortages of all kinds. This project is a continuation of the activities and results achieved by TGH in the rural areas of Damascus, Hama, Dar'a and Idleb. It also extends TGH's response to other localities identified as having high needs due to the level of destruction, the disruption of basic services and the return of populations, including remote and underserved areas (Southern Idleb, Northern Hama) or areas facing a deteriorating security situation (Dar'a).

The operation has been designed as part of a multi-sectoral and holistic approach, adapted to each location. Through this project, TGH aims to provide a response to the most vulnerable populations in the target areas in terms of

On the WASH side, the project aims to provide access to drinking water and sanitation for the targeted communities. To this end, 4 water distribution systems will be rehabilitated, as well as 2 sewerage networks damaged by the conflict. In addition, TGH will conduct awareness-raising sessions on hygiene and diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and cholera.

Under the Education/Protection component, the project aims to promote access to quality formal and non-formal education and a safe learning environment for the most vulnerable children who are out of school and at risk of dropping out. To achieve this, TGH will provide learning and teaching materials and train 155 non-formal education teachers (most of whom are also involved in formal education) in the targeted schools. At the same time, back-to-school campaigns will be organised, as well as monitoring of out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out. Psychosocial support for these children completes the package, and special cases are referred to specialist services. In addition, TGH is organising a public health programme in the schools, including the provision of hygiene kits and the maintenance and repair of existing toilets in the schools. Minor renovations will also be carried out in 6 schools.
