Sudan, and more particularly Darfur, is an unsafe due to the conflict, which is still causing population movements today. Climate change and socio-economic conditions increase food insecurity and malnutrition among the most vulnerable populations.

Some localities enjoy stability that allows for interventions that go beyond mere emergency humanitarian assistance. This is the case in Bindizi and Mukjar (Central Darfur), where TGH has been implementing projects that include a sustainable dimension for several years.

Families have been constantly returning to Mukjar since 2015¹. This programme is part of a resilience and development strategy. It also includes a food security component for the most vulnerable families, which are primarily affected by the current economic crisis.

TGH distributes improved cereal seeds and various vegetable seeds for the winter season in order to strengthen food self-sufficiency. Fairs are organised for the distribution of tools.

Supported by TGH, women develop income-generating activities thus creating new sources of income.

Training on techniques for the cultivation and propagation of distributed seeds is provided to strengthen agricultural production capacities. Women conduct awareness-raising sessions on good cooking practices, which has a positive impact on the nutritional situation of households.
