The Mental Health department is one of the lesser developed departments of the hospital and receives very little support. TGH provides equipment and Psychosocial Support (PSS) materials to the mental health department. In parallel, trainings and coaching are delivered to the mental health department’s staff and to Jiyan foundation’s staff (which will provide child protection activities in the hospital until 2022). TGH thus ensures that the patients receive an individualized and quality support from the social workers.
The Halabja Department of Social Affairs (DoSA) is understaffed and requires volunteering support as it lacks funding. TGH provides financial support to the Department, through incentives for its social workers, including coverage of local transportation. This will allow them to start implementing case management and Psychosocial Support (PSS) sessions for children, families and targeted communities in Halabja and extend their geographical coverage. This project increase resources and support by providing punctual but sustainable assistance to mental health services, emphasizing on services provided to children.
