In 2021, the situation in Chin State deteriorated as conflicts between the Arakanese Army, the Chin Defense Force and the Burmese Army (Tatmadaw) intensified due to long-standing grievances (desire for independence) and the February 2021 coup. This context has forced thousands of people to leave their homes and live in a generalized feeling of insecurity. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that this is a region that is difficult to access, where resources and opportunities are scarce and the risk of natural disasters is high.
This project designed in partnership between Karuna Mission Social Solidarity (KMSS), Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) and its implementing partner Raiki Community Development Foundation (RCDF), provides assistance to more than 8,827 IDPs and 5,384 host communities in Paletwa Township, consolidating the activities already implemented by TGH in this Township since January 2019.
This project has different components: water, hygiene and sanitation, psychosocial support, health, food security and education. The main actions implemented by TGH-RCDF and KMSS are:
