TGH supports child protection in Sudan

Session de sensibilisation et de formation sur l’identification et la gestion des traumatismes chez les jeunes enfants, Darfour, Soudan

In Sudan, TGH continues its work to support IDPs and host communities affected by the conflict that began in April 2003. Today, psychosocial support and child protection activities are carried out in 13 different locations across Darfur.

TGH is working with its local partners to raise awareness and train communities, and in particular parents or guardians, in the identification and management of trauma in young children.

The teams in the field also provide psychosocial support and recreational activities to improve the well-being of the children and help them to overcome the traumatic experiences and violence that they may have suffered since the beginning of the conflict.

Supported by the European Union, these actions to protect children in emergencies are essential for building community resilience. They also make it possible to identify children’s needs in different areas: nutrition, health and mental health, shelter, social support, and then refer them to specialised services or teams.
