In the Salah Al Din governorate, Shirqat district, Iraq, TGH’s Education and Protection team, with support from the European Union, provides ongoing support to children and families through psychosocial support and encouragement to return to school.
In partnership with schools in Shirqat, TGH runs awareness campaigns in several communities to encourage children to enrol in school. TGH’s back-to-school initiative aims to promote education and protect children’s rights.
Last October, these activities enabled 35 children (19 boys, 16 girls) who had dropped out of school to re-enroll. Our team also provided school kits for 155 children in Edira Sufla. Also as part of its education activities in Iraq, TGH helped integrate 145 children into a non-formal education programme, providing access to new learning opportunities for children at risk of dropping out of school.
