Sudan: Emergency response to the ongoing conflict in the country

Conflit Soudan

A war that forces people to flee

In Sudan, the war is still going on. In January 2024, it was estimated that the conflict had caused the internal displacement of 6.1 million people seeking to flee the fighting, in addition to 1.5 million who had crossed the borders of neighbouring countries. In all, 24.8 million people are considered to be in critical need.

A multi-sector response to local needs

In this context, Triangle Génération Humanitaire continues to deploy a multi-sector intervention to meet the urgent needs of internally displaced and war-affected populations.Among the areas of intervention, access to drinking water is crucial for all these people.

In Darfur, TGH teams are organising the delivery of drinking water. They also install or rehabilitate manual water pumps. In order to guarantee maximum autonomy for the people receiving assistance, the communities are trained in the use and maintenance of the pumps.

In addition, TGH systematically carries out water quality checks.

These activities to support access to water are supported by the European Union.
