Programme details
By targeting communities in need in Aleppo and Dar’a governorates, the project will benefit 27,850 people through WASH rehabilitations, 2,008 through educational support, and 1,126 through protection initiatives.
To address long-term WASH needs, the project will rehabilitate four water and sanitation systems and four damaged schools, focusing on winterization. Access to WASH services will be sustained through solar panel installations and capacity building for local water authorities. Hygiene promotion sessions will teach school personnel and children how to use the facilities effectively.
In education, the project will improve access to quality education for out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out by rehabilitating schools. Teachers will receive training in modern educational methods and social-emotional learning, while non-formal education (NFE) activities will include remedial, catch-up, and Self-Learning Program classes.
Financial barriers to education will be reduced through the provision of stationery for NFE sessions and teaching materials. Teachers from remote areas will receive transportation support, and cross-line students will receive hygiene and dignity kits for national exams. Community engagement will be strengthened through the inclusion of community-based volunteers and parent involvement.
In the protection sector, psychosocial support (PSS), risk education, and recreational activities will be provided to students, focusing on children with disabilities, early married girls, and child labor cases. Teachers will receive training, and awareness campaigns will be conducted for parents. Child protection mainstreaming will include case management and referrals for specialized services in high-needs areas.
