The project focuses primarily on the rehabilitation and renovation of agricultural water access infrastructure in the villages. In order to carry out the most appropriate intervention, TGH begins by carrying out a hydrogeological study of the area concerned. This study will make it possible to draw up an inventory of the various agricultural water systems in the area, characterising their state of deterioration. Representatives of the local authorities and the beneficiaries then work with TGH to decide which works are most urgently needed, based on the study carried out previously. These structures are then rehabilitated by local companies contracted by TGH.
Throughout this process, TGH ensures that the State’s technical departments (the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Water Resources) are involved in the processes and that their interactions with the beneficiaries are fluid. The project also aims to ensure that returnee households have access to the renewed inputs they need for their farming activities. To achieve this, a technology developed by TGH during the first phase of the project is being reused: a digital catalogue is being made available from which households can choose the production factors and inputs they want and which are suited to their situation.
They will then use vouchers to collect them from local suppliers who are partners in the project. To ensure support for livestock farming activities, TGH also carries out a study of epizootic diseases and veterinary services in the area. In this way, the veterinary services receive support tailored to their needs. Beneficiaries also have access to training to accompany any equipment provided, particularly in the form of short videos.
