TGH is implementing this project in response to the difficulties encountered by young people in developing a professional project that will provide them with a livelihood. It aims to provide children and young people, particularly the most disadvantaged, with quality learning that will enable them to acquire the skills they need to develop their full potential. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Nineveh Department of Youth and Sport, in support of the Al-Habdaa youth centre in Al-Muthana.
TGH is setting up an innovation lab in the youth centre where young people will be able to receive training in life and citizenship education modules. Young people will have the opportunity to take part in digital and entrepreneurial skills development sessions, to improve their resilience and promote their employability skills as young social and business entrepreneurs.
In addition, in order to increase young people’s engagement with the labour market, the targeted young people will have access to a range of services through an innovation lab as well as, for some of them, a grant enabling them to launch their social and/or commercial enterprise. The service will also give them access to work placements and apprenticeships.
TGH is also committed to encouraging involvement in local governance mechanisms, helping young people to become actively involved in decision-making, to identify the problems that affect their lives and their communities, and to take action to remedy them. In order to increase the participation of young people in decision-making processes, TGH supports the establishment of several platforms enabling young people to express their views and to strengthen civic initiatives.
