Programme details
The aim of this project is to provide refugees with assistance and access to essential services to cover their basic needs. Construction work and the rehabilitation of school infrastructure have been organised progressively around UNICEF’s call for projects.
TGH has been involved in this project since the floods of 2015 and 2016, which seriously affected infrastructure and housing in the area. During this project, TGH will ensure, in cooperation with the school headmasters and the Ministries of Cooperation and Social Affairs. :
- The construction of an intermediate school in Smara: a school for 600 pupils. The aim is to build eight classrooms, two administration rooms, two laboratories, a library, a teachers’ room, a kitchen with canteen and a room for the caretaker.
- Renovation of the CES d’Ausserd: 36 disabled pupils and 12 educators. This refurbishment project covers a floor area of 839m². The aim is to replace the roof to bring it into line with technical standards for water drainage, repair cracks in the walls, extend and raise the level of the courtyard and certain rooms (physiotherapy room), and repair the sanitary facilities.
- Refurbishing and equipping a room for inspectors in each of the Ministry of Education’s five regional directorates: This will improve working conditions for employees of the regional education directorates. The needs identified vary from wilaya to wilaya, but include, in particular, the expansion and adaptation of spaces, the installation of sanitary facilities and the reinforcement of existing structures.
The infrastructure will be designed to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility. TGH has already carried out evaluation and dimensioning missions using the analysis of its technical civil engineering unit to guarantee the sustainability of the facilities.
