The project aims to help reduce mortality and morbidity due to malnutrition and food insecurity among vulnerable households in the locality of Al Geneina in the state of West Darfur, Sudan.

In terms of nutrition, the aim of TGH’s activities is to prevent and treat malnutrition among the vulnerable population of the locality of Al Geneina, in the state of West Darfur. To this end, nutrition awareness sessions are organised, as well as malnutrition screening programmes for children and vulnerable people living with HIV. The programme pays particular attention to mothers (the risks of malnutrition in young children). Training and refresher courses for staff in charge of nutrition programmes (local players) are also provided, with a view to passing on PUI and TGH expertise.

On the prevention of nutrition-related morbidity, the project targets several categories of people and groups of people. Households with children reported or diagnosed as suffering from acute malnutrition, vulnerable households with children under the age of two, and nursing mothers. The project involves the distribution of multi-purpose financial assistance (MPCA) and agricultural inputs to vulnerable households. Agricultural training in gardening for households targeted by the MPCA (as well as the distribution of agricultural inputs).

The organisation of all activities includes setting up meetings and workshops with local authorities and stakeholders.
