Programme details

Villages in the targeted governorates have suffered enormous destruction as a result of the conflict, as have schools, with the majority of classrooms out of use. These damaged schools are dangerous for children and staff, discouraging them from returning to school. In addition, as a result of the COVID-19 measures and the closure of schools and/or reduction in learning hours, the number of children not attending school and children at risk of dropping out is tending to increase.

To ensure that children in the target localities benefit from safe, dignified and quality learning environments, TGH is implementing a number of activities: the rehabilitation of schools, including water and sanitation facilities with a gender and disability-sensitive approach; the provision of school furniture and school supply kits, etc.

TGH supports out-of-school children and children at risk of dropping out of school through access to non-formal education, so that they can gradually re-enter the mainstream formal education system. They also have access to school-based psychological support programmes to ensure their emotional and social well-being.

Teachers and educational staff also benefit from the project, with a capacity-building component through training on a wide range of education-related subjects.
