Programme details
The EHA action combines a short-term emergency response with the installation of more sustainable and cost-effective systems. The emergency response is being delivered through the provision of drinking water by tanker, pending the completion of work planned for more sustainable solutions. The rehabilitation of 7 water systems aims to extend access to sustainable water supply services in areas that have been damaged by the conflict. Some boreholes are equipped with solar panels to compensate for the shortage of fuel in the country.
With regard to the Education component of this project, TGH is ensuring safe and appropriate access to formal schooling for the most vulnerable children by rehabilitating 9 schools. In a further 13 schools, TGH is also maintaining and repairing latrines that already exist in the schools, to ensure that children continue to have access to suitable facilities. TGH also provides capacity-building for the teachers who run the non-formal education sessions. In addition to these educational activities, protection activities are also part of this project through the implementation of “back to school” campaigns in each area targeted by the project. Non-formal education sessions for out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out of school are provided, as well as psychosocial support sessions.
