The integrated approach covers multiple sectors including health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), shelter and non-food items (NFI), protection, and multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCA). TGH focuses on WASH, Protection and MPCA activities.

The ongoing conflict, which erupted in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has compounded an already dire humanitarian situation, characterized by a prolonged economic crisis and pre-existing conflicts in various parts of the country. As the conflict spreads, it has led to massive displacement, disrupted livelihoods, and exacerbated vulnerabilities, with over 24.8 million people now in need of humanitarian assistance. As of June 2024, the crisis has displaced over 7.2 million people within Sudan, highlighting the urgent need for a coordinated response.

For the WASH activities, TGH is doing:

  • Water: Provide safe drinking water through trucks and other methods, and map and rehabilitate existing water points while ensuring proper water quality monitoring.
  • Sanitation: Construct and rehabilitate latrines, conduct desludging, and manage waste.
  • Hygiene Promotion: Conduct hygiene promotion sessions through trained volunteers and support WASH activities in health facilities.

For the Protection activities, TGH is doing:

  • Child Protection: Offer case management, structured recreational activities, and psychosocial support for children affected by the conflict. Strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms and raise awareness about child protection issues.
  • Mental Health Support: Conduct awareness sessions on mental health, facilitate community-based psychosocial support activities, and provide specialized support for caregivers.

For the Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), TGH is doing:

  • Cash Transfers: Provide cash assistance to help households meet their basic needs, reduce reliance on negative coping strategies, and address food insecurity.

Through this integrated and multisectoral approach, the project aims to deliver a comprehensive package of services that addresses the immediate and longer-term needs of affected populations, ensuring financial efficiency and maximizing impact.
