The proposed response is based on TGH’s 5 years of experience in implementing multi-sector projects, and nearly 30 years of experience in responding to emergency situations worldwide. The target locations have been selected in coordination with various partners in the field.

Since the earthquake, TGH has carried out assessments in collective shelters and localities in Hama and Aleppo.TGH is working in 7 localities (3 in Aleppo and 4 in Hama): Aleppo (in collective shelters and schools, as well as in the Salah ad-Deen neighbourhood), Hayyan and eastern rural Aleppo (Um Krouh), Al-Smakh, Muhradah, Tresimeh, Kafr Hud in the governorate of Hama.

The end result of the proposed action is to improve access to basic WASH services for people affected by the earthquake in the governorates of Hama and Aleppo, while preventing WASH-related diseases in the governorates of Hama and Aleppo, through the rehabilitation of water systems, the sewer network, training for local water authorities, hygiene promotion awareness sessions and the distribution of hygiene kits.
