Programme details

Since the earthquake, TGH has carried out field assessments in collective shelters and schools in Hama and Aleppo. TGH is working in 10 schools (8 in Aleppo and 2 in Hama) in the Jebel Salman district of Aleppo, Bari Sharqi and the sub-districts of Hama.

The project comprises several activities :

  • Non-formal education activities, including remedial classes, are organised to enable children who have lost several months of schooling to resume normal schooling at the start of the new school year.
  • Training is provided for teachers to enhance their skills in psychosocial support and active learning.
  • Support and awareness-raising sessions on disaster risk reduction are also organised for adults (teachers, parents, carers) to give them the tools they need to prevent future disasters.
  • Small-scale repairs are carried out in schools to ensure that learning can resume in safe and protective environments.

In addition, the project will be complemented by other initiatives (by TGH and other partners) in the surrounding areas, based on coordination with local and international partners.
