At a time when Syria is undergoing unprecedented political change following the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) strongly emphasises the importance of this historic moment for the country. Although this change is decisive, the current humanitarian crisis remains terrible, after years of conflict, economic collapse, epidemics, isolation and the recent earthquake. More than 16 million Syrians are still in need of urgent humanitarian aid, and this number is likely to rise with the return of refugees previously housed in camps in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon.

With a presence on the ground in Syria for more than six years, TGH reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting the Syrian people and remains fully committed to maintaining its operations and providing essential support in the regions of Damascus, Dar’a, Hama, Idleb, Aleppo and to starting activities in the Homs region.

Since 2018, TGH has been active in the water, hygiene, sanitation, education and child protection sectors, and since 2023 TGH has been piloting cash transfer operations aimed at relieving families in economic distress and lacking means of subsistence. TGH has participated in rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts while investing in the resilience of the Syrian people, and it is this integrated and comprehensive approach that TGH will maintain in this new phase of its involvement in the country. Following the earthquake in February 2023, TGH mobilised to meet the urgent needs of the people affected by the disaster.

We fully support the United Nations’ call for a “transition that respects the rights, lives and aspirations of all Syrians – regardless of their ethnicity, religion or political beliefs”, as well as the statements of the Damascus INGO Forum (DINGO), which calls for a peaceful, inclusive and sustainable future in Syria.
