In May, TGH has implemented a rapid needs assessment that was followed by registration and verification process after receiving an alert from the Humanitarian Aid Commission about the fire-affected households in Bindisi and Mukjar.
According to the Commission, the reason for these incidents is because the houses of the people are made from straw and feed residues which are flammable. When there is any human mistake while cooking in the kitchen, this fire could burn the house and also this fire can be extended to the other shelters surrounding.
After completing the procurement process and receiving the materials in the field bases, 150 hygiene kitsand 150 non food items were distributed by TGH for shelter fire-affected households (85 in Bindisi and 65 in Mukjar).
After the assessment, registration and verification processes were completed, fired shelters were prioritized to receive TGH assistance.
161 hygiene kits and 161 non food items will also be distributed in Um Dukhom upcoming weeks.
