In the field since 2007
Since April 2023, fighting in South Darfur has forced thousands of people (Central African returnees and Sudanese asylum seekers) to flee to CAR, particularly in the Vakaga prefecture, where TGH has been working since 2007.
An emergency response in several areas
TGH was one of the first organisations to take action on behalf of people affected by the conflict in neighbouring Sudan. TGH’s emergency response focused on the following areas:
- Water, hygiene & sanitation
- Education
- Child protection : TGH sets up and runs "Child-Friendly Spaces". These safe spaces offer recreational and learning activities, as well as psychosocial support to encourage the development of children from all the communities living in Birao. Awareness-raising sessions on the risks of violence and abuse, living together and good hygiene practices are also organised there.
TGH and its partners plan to set up a referral and care circuit for unaccompanied children, victims of violence, exploitation and sexual abuse, identified in Vakaga.
