The humanitarian situation in Sudan remains dire, necessitating a flexible and coordinated response from humanitarian actors to ensure an effective life-saving intervention. This project focuses on enhancing the overall humanitarian response capacity through the implementation of an Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM) across five pre-identified Darfur States. Led by Solidarités International (SI) in collaboration with TGH, CONCERN, and DCD (NNGO), the ERM aims to address the urgent needs of conflict-affected communities with a multisectoral approach, including WASH, Shelter, Health, Nutrition, food security and Protection.

The humanitarian context is critical, with a high risk of famine exacerbated by conflict and economic collapse. An IPC alert in March 2024 and subsequent famine warnings have been issued for several areas, including Darfur, predicting a worsening situation according to the Famine Prevention Plan released in April 2024.This project has also been designed to support this famine prevention famine plan.

The ERM will establish a humanitarian watch system to collect alerts from community-based sources and the Humanitarian Analysis for Access in Challenging Contexts (HAACT). It will produce and disseminate standardized alerts and analytical products to improve understanding, coordination, and advocacy within the humanitarian community. Humanitarian relief items will be pre positioned strategically within and outside Sudan to ensure timely emergency assistance, while emergency teams will be ready to deploy for multisectoral assessments and responses.
