Water, hygiene and sanitation assistance for displaced persons and returnees in Birao

In recent years, violent clashes in the Vakaga prefecture have led to major population movements and the creation of various sites to accommodate displaced populations. TGH has been active in the area since 2007, and has extensive expertise in the field of EHA since the early days of the emergency response in Birao.

This project is a continuation of TGH’s EHA activities in Birao.

TGH is responding to needs while at the same time ensuring long-term access to water by installing an innovative solar-powered system that will enable displaced people to gain autonomy in their access to water and in the management of sanitation facilities, while also helping to reduce the carbon footprint of their water points.

For the populations wishing to return to their localities, TGH supports them during their resettlement in the field of Water Hygiene and Sanitation with the assistance of ACTED which intervenes in the field of Shelter and IGA (Income Generating Activities).
