TGH is implementing this project in response to the difficulties encountered by young people in developing a career plan that will provide them with a sustainable livelihood. It aims to provide children and young people, particularly the most disadvantaged, with quality learning that enables them to acquire the skills they need to develop their full potential. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Dohuk Youth and Sports Department, in support of the Domiz youth centre.
TGH is setting up an innovation laboratory in the centre where young people will be able to receive training in life and citizenship education modules. They will have the opportunity to take part in digital and entrepreneurial skills development sessions to build their resilience and promote their employability as young entrepreneurs.Secondly, in order to increase young people’s potential in the labour market, they will have access to work-based learning opportunities (internships, apprenticeships, etc.) and may receive a grant to start up their own social and/or commercial start-ups.
Secondly, TGH is committed to encouraging involvement in local governance structures, helping young people to become actively involved in decision-making, to identify the problems that affect their lives and those of their communities, and to take steps to remedy them.In order to increase the inclusive participation of young people in the decision-making process, TGH is supporting the establishment of a number of platforms as forums for young people to express their views and support their initiatives.
