Temporary suspension of TGH operations in Vakaga (CAR)

Statement

Following an attack by armed men on one of our teams working in the prefecture of Vakaga, Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) announces the temporary suspension of all its humanitarian activities outside the town of Birao until further notice.

No member of our team was physically injured in this incident. However, it is clear that the repeated violent robberies to which these workers are subjected are having a significant impact on their mental health.  This incident is evidence of a worrying deterioration in the security situation in the region and forces us to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of our teams and the continuity of our humanitarian work.

TGH reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the fundamental humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence. Our activities are exclusively dedicated to assisting vulnerable populations, without distinction of origin, religion or affiliation, and without any political or military considerations. We call on all parties to respect these principles and to ensure safe and unhindered access for humanitarian agencies operating in the region.

We remain fully committed to supporting the local population and will continue our activities in Birao as security conditions allow. TGH is monitoring the situation closely and will reassess its operations as the situation evolves. We hope to resume our activities as soon as conditions allow us to ensure the safety of our teams and beneficiaries.
