In 2019, the intensification of conflicts between the Arakan Army and the Burmese Army (Tatmadaw) in the Township of Paletwa, the poorest of the Chin State, has forced more than 6,000 people to leave their homes and search for another place to live. The situation is further aggravated by a widespread lack of services and infrastructures in the region, the high vulnerability of its population and increasing ethnic tensions which are undermining local social cohesion.

This project designed by Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) and its partners Christian Aid, Raiki Community Development Fondation and CCERR provides assistance to more than 4,000 displaced people and their host communities in the Township of Paletwa, thus consolidating the activities already implemented by TGH in this Township since January 2019.

Through a multisectoral approach (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), psychosocial support, health, food security and education) TGH and RCDF provide psychosocial support for children affected by the conflict within a protective environment (development of 4 Child Friendly Spaces). Nutritional support and access to water and sanitation services are provided as well through actions carried out in schools and Child Friendly Spaces.

This 10 months project responds to the basic needs of displaced people and their host communities and improves the coordination between actors in the area.
